All most all people have a exceptional person in their mind. Boyfriend, girlfriend, best-friend, and so on.
It depends on how important that person is to you. In my case, I have quite a lot of exceptional people in my mind.
The reason why many people are exceptional to me is I don't like to place people.
So for me, every friend is exceptional as important as my family. However, of course other people have different opinions.
For example, my friend places people completely. Even though they are her friend. In her mind, there is the No1 friend, No2friend,etc.
I'm interested in differences between people. It's natural that people are different, but why people are different? I want to know the reasons.
I like different opinions, also characters. They makes me stimulus!
I think what you are saying Naoko is that you embrace difference between people and are non-judgemental about those variations. Am I right?

I have known a friend who really has some weird style of dressing and haircut, somebody looked at her and gossiped. but I didn't think that made she lost her confident.
