First of all, I want to say I totally agree with this topic.
For example, on Facebook, we can always see the blank on the right side which told us to become a friend with someone who has mutual friends with us. We will often confirm this person because it doesn't matter to our Facebook profile. And most of us would like to have more friends on Facebook. Because it's a good way to know more information and news about people you might know. I believe most of us will do that. We prefer something new.
Another example comes from the chatting rooms. In China, we have chat software called QQ. It's quite like MSN but people's accounts are numbers. Just like a mobile phone ni=umber. So if you go to your friends' QQ space, others will see your number. And they can join your chat list. We have a chatting group which was established by one of our friends. In the group, we can see everyone's number. And some people will ask ! many people to become friends, even if the just have met once.
Why do people like doing this? In my opinion, I think the reason is quite simple. Because it's on the internet. All activities are finished on the net. So people will think that is no big deal. And they can talk easily to people they are not familiar with.
In a word, I think we will absolutely add many 'false friends' on our chatting list or online networking. And I suppose maybe when you chat more, some of them will become your good friends.
Interesting view! I just see it really critical to add a whole lot of people on your facebook page, sure you can find out more information about your friends and other people, but so can they about you! Thats why I'm rather concerned about peolpe putting tons of pictures on the Net.
ReplyDeleteagreed! it encourages triviality (to my mind).
ReplyDeleteinternet actually provides us with another space which can be separated from real life. The important thing is being aware of that.
ReplyDeleteI agree, Sally. Also, I have another reason which I've got it from my poor experience which is the online games. Without those false friends, you wont get a group to play with. That means just exactly like what you've written " not a big deal " :) !
ReplyDeleteI like that all activities are finished on the net. Some people are using the internet with confusion about the world on the internet and the world in real life so some of them might get a false frind to their real life.
ReplyDeleteOn the other hand, my sister has some best friends that they've known each other for more than 9 years through the chatroom. I also know one of them because he'd helped when my sister had some problem. These example might fit your opinion at the end of writing. But I think because my sister is lucky!!
So I think everything depends on your personal consideration and judgement.
Exactly★ Internet is useful to make friends but not sure if it's good or not... Hopin' that we r real friends♫♫
ReplyDeleteIt's a good journal! I like your view;)
